SUMMARY:Invitation to Engage – Why Life Enrichment in Memory Care Matters\, a FREE online event
DESCRIPTION:Join Lilly Adrian\, CALM\, CDP\, ADC\, Memory Care Consultant and Trainer\, owner of The Bridge of Time\, LLC for this informative session.  Lilly will discuss how to communicate and engage with memory-impaired loved ones in meaningful ways. Lilly’s motto is “Remember their PAST\, Celebrate their PRESENT\, and Embrace their FUTURE”. \nLilly cared for both parents on their Alzheimer’s journey. This experience redirected her life’s work into the field of caring for older adults\, many of whom have memory impairment. Making each day shine in creative ways by honing skills in communication\, music and the arts\, Lilly has designed daily programs that have enriched the lives of each person she touches. \nEducated as a Social Worker\, Lilly started out working with children.  As her father’s Alzheimer’s disease progressed\, she shifted to working with older adults in Abilene and Midland with Meals on Wheels and the Area Agency on Aging.  In 2009\, Lilly shifted course to Memory Care by receiving certifications as an Activity Professional (ADC)\, and later Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) and Certified Assisted Living Manager (CALM). Many years in the Dallas memory care community have added layer upon layer of best practices\, adapting ideas to make resident days more meaningful\, events intended to delight and educate caregivers and families\, and now trains others how to “Remember the PAST\, Celebrate the PRESENT\, and Embrace their FUTURE”. \nREGISTER

SUMMARY:Alzheimer's Association Fall Seminar - Virtual
DESCRIPTION:  \n \n  \nThis event is being co-hosted by the Alzheimer’s Association and Texas Healthy at Home. \nEarly detection of Alzheimer’s disease is critical\, and empowering oneself with the right information and resources is the first step toward living well with a diagnosis. \nAs we age\, we can all expect subtle changes to take place in our memory and thinking. But dementia is not a normal part of aging. Phrases such as early onset\, younger onset\, or Mild Cognitive Impairment can be confusing or misunderstood. This event will offer clarity around the diagnostic process\, what living well with a diagnosis can look like\, treatments on the horizon\, and how caregivers can best support their loved ones. \nSessions include: \nEarly Diagnosis: Maximizing Time\, Empowering Decisions\, and Accessing Treatment presented by Heidi Rosetti\, PhD\, neuropsychologist \nUnderstanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia presented by Jane Hunley\, LMSW \nCarpe Diem: Perspectives Following an MCI Diagnosis presented by Dan Jaworski\, Alzheimer’s Association Early Stage Advisory Group member \n“I want to go home!” Responding to Challenging Questions in Dementia Care presented by Loy Campbell\, occupational therapist \nAdvances in Alzheimer’s Research presented by Percy Griffin\, PhD \n3 hours of complimentary CEUs will be offered for nurses\, social workers and LPCs.
