Navigating Dementia: Charting a Course for Care

Enjoy a light breakfast and visit the exhibit hall, where representatives of local businesses serving the needs of caregivers will be available to answer questions.

About the speaker: Award-winning occupational therapist and dementia care specialist Heather McKay will guide seminar attendees through the changes typical of dementia’s progression and offer ways of resolving the most common challenges. Participants will learn to differentiate between five levels of ability and identify specific ways of adapting assistance to match a person’s changing needs. The seminar will help caregivers foster positive interactions throughout the course of the disease, helping loved ones with a diagnosis maintain skills, dignity, and a sense of control.
